I work as a Therapist, Educator, and Coach, for couples who are -or who are just starting to be- in a committed relationship. While relationship success starts with love, long-term happiness needs more than love alone! It needs commitment and relationship skills to learn how to deal with differences, and to stay connected through tough times of transitions. Relationship skills help you explore and connect with your partner's world. With good skills you'll be able to create your couple-vision and be buddies for life in living that vision.

TRANSITIONS can make couples vulnerable to AFFAIRS. I teach how to PREVENT AFFAIRS, or how you can PICK UP THE PIECES and REBUILD AFTER ONE.

BALANCING LOYALTY TIES: When you decide to MARRY, or are to become NEW PARENTS, help is on the way!
I coach you through the tricky act of BALANCING your COUPLE LOYALTY with each of your FAMILY-OF-ORIGIN LOYALTIES.

STEP-PARENTING comes with its own LOYALTY CONFLICTS which -with coaching- can be negotiated in a healthy way for all involved.

I look through a MULTI-GENERATIONAL LENS and help you see how your old, family-taught ("default") behaviors can create ineffective relational patterns for you now. I coach you in "updating" your behaviors, which will not only benefit your relationship, but your (future) children as well.

My work is informed by the latest data on GENDER DIFFERENCES and on RELATIONSHIP SUCCESS.

MY PRACTICE FORMAT

Couples do their best work when they have 1.5 to 2 hours per session. My experience is that a so-called 'clinical hour' of 45-50 min. is not effective. So, I schedule 1.5 to 2-hour sessions, during which couples receive relationship education and practice the relationship skills. Homework assignments are part of our work together.
